Our Journey

How we got to where we are today…

We are Clay and Malissa Trotter and our story began with a desire in our hearts to reconnect with our food. To understand and know where it comes from. To allow our children to be connected with their food. Neither of us had any background in agriculture, we were just both willing to be uncomfortable and follow God’s leading.

In 2015, we decided to go all in so we sold our home and most of our belongings to move into an apartment to make this dream a reality. I remember being very specific that I was willing to do this for no more than 1 year. As I’m sure you can imagine, God had very different plans. Over the next 3 years (surrender much), we purchased our land and our home and moved out on our land to begin our new journey. From the changing of the seasons to the different animals and all the basic daily challenges, we had so much to learn!!!

We began immediately with laying chicks and then began adding more to our farm. We always knew we wanted to raise pastured poultry but God really surprised us when he led us to raise pastured pork. With our roots staying steadfast in desiring to produce the healthiest animals we could, with no antibiotics, no vaccines, no hormones, and on a non-GMO, corn free and soy free feed ration, people thought we were CRAZY! (Which I honestly questioned for myself at times.) We have come face to face with life and with death, with abundance and with scarcity, with peace and with turmoil, with light and with dark but one thing continues to be true, God is faithful.

So, it is with a continued humble heart that we stay the course and produce the happiest, healthiest animals we know how in order to feed our bodies with nutrient dense food that tastes great! Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and we are so very grateful for you. A producer is nothing without their consumers, so a big thank you to you for having a conviction to buy local, nutrient dense meat.

“Thank you for putting your trust in us by supporting our farm. We promise to provide you with exactly what our family eats, which is great tasting, nutritionally dense and regeneratively raised food.”
